With Mother’s Day just two days away, it’s time to kick your planning into high gear. We shared a few gift ideas last week for that special lady in your life, but if those didn’t tickle your fancy, then consider cooking your mom her favourite meal paired with this gorgeous blooming tea. Watching the tea bud blossom is a treat in and of itself, and the following recipe punches up the flavour for a truly tasty libation.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 blooming tea bulb*
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sparkling water, chilled
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp grenadine or maraschino cherry juice
- 1/3 cup fresh berries, for garnish
*We found fruit flavoured tea bulbs to work the best. Blooming teas typically use green tea as the base, so they will all generally have a green tea flavour.
Gathering ingredients was half the battle! Now just follow these simple steps:
In a medium saucepan, add the water and sugar, and bring to a boil. In the mean time, scout out a good looking glass jug or bowl that is heat resistant, and set the tea bulb inside.
Once the water is boiling, pour it over the bulb and let it steep for 4-5 minutes.
Place tea into the refrigerator to chill until cold. When ready to serve, pour the lemon juice into the jug with the tea, and top with the sparkling water. Then gently pour in the grenadine – it will sink to the bottom and create a pretty ombre effect!
Lastly, garnish with some fresh berries…
…and serve it to your loving mom!
We wish you all a wonderful weekend and if you give this recipe a shot – we would love to see the results! Just tag us on Instagram (@demetres) and check back later for more goodies, tutorials and behind-the-scenes sneak peeks!
