We’re just as obsessed with neon signs as everyone else. And with the vintage trend running hot this season, we figured why not make our own to light-up our store? Sydney, our Marketing specialist turned neon-sign artist shows us the magic behind making these signs.

Step 1: Make the backboard mounts

We started with three 30×30″ wood panels and one big 48×48″ panel, we got from Curry’s art store. Alternatively you could also try your local department store for wood panels. Be sure to seal the wood and then you can start painting!

Step 2: Get your paint on

The back storage room at our head office quickly became an art studio. Using acrylic paint and brushes, Sydney transformed plain wood into dreamy panel paintings.

Step 3: Mount Neon

We met with the guys at PL Neon in Mississauga who made our neon designs come to life. Our vision was finally coming together!

Taa-daa!

Fast forward to one quiet morning at our café by Yorkdale mall at the corner of Dufferin & Orfus, and before we knew it, our neon creations were hanging for the world to see!
