Have you ever baked a loaf? Okay, but have you ever baked a loaf inside a jar? That’s right. We’re taking the cute-ness level up a notch with these cranberry-orange loaves in a jar! Perfect for that January treat day (because new year, new you is hopefully at the gym, right?).
CRANBERRY-ORANGE LOAF RECIPE
1 ½ c flour
1 tsp salt
1 ½ tsp baking powder
1 c sugar
1 Tb orange zest
½ c sour cream
½ c buttermilk
½ c vegetable oil
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 c fresh or frozen cranberries
shortening (for greasing)

Preheat oven to 350°F and move the oven trays to fit the height of the jars. Then, grease 3, 750mL mason jars (or 3, 500mL mason jars) with shortening.
In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk the sugar, zest, sour cream, buttermilk, oil, eggs and vanilla until smooth.
Add wet into dry and stir until combined.
Add in cranberries and stir to incorporate.
Pour batter into prepared jars and place directly onto oven rack.
Bake for about 50-60 min until a long toothpick comes out clean. Don’t be alarmed if the bread expands over the rim of the jar, it will settle back down when cooling.
Remove from oven and let it cool completely. Once cooled, screw the lid on and store refrigerated for up to a week or at room temperature for up to 2 days. Don’t worry if the loaves initially exceed the height of the jar, they will deflate as they cool!
For the final touch or to turn this into a gift, tie some ribbon and a name tag around the rim of the jar.
