It’s a well known adage that April showers bring May flowers, and Mother Nature sure delivers on that promise. Not wanting to get caught out in the rain, we spiffed up a couple of umbrellas to keep our noggins dry in style. Read on to find out how to make your own sprinkle themed parasol.
You will need:
- An umbrella (we did not attempt to DIY our own umbrella because this isn’t MacGyver)
- Masking tape
- Fabric paint*
- Paint brush
*If you don’t want to invest in a whole set of fabric paint for this project alone and already own some acrylic paint, you can mix them with a Fabric Medium to make the acrylic paint pliable and suitable for use on fabric.
Decide on the placement of your sprinkles (or another ice cream topping of your choice) and mark them out with masking tape. This step isn’t completely necessary but will help you keep your lines clean when painting..
Start painting! Depending on the paint you use, you may need to paint several coats to achieve a truly opaque look.
Let dry fully, then peel off the masking tape carefully.
Now to take it out for a spin. This may be the only time we have ever looked forward to going out in the rain.
